Valentine 'Penny' Smith of Mount Laurel, N.J. passed on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 74.

Penny was born in Erie, Pa. and lived in Mount Laurel for 50 years. She was a loving child care provider and housewife.

 

She was a kind, loving, and caring person. She helped many people and was an animal lover and took in and cared for all kinds of animals.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 52 years, Gerald. She was the loving and devoted mother to John Davidson, Michael Smith, Karin (Smith) Alcott, and Douglas Smith; son and daughters-in-law, Lori, Colleen, Dave, Kristin, and Jen; loving and devoted grandmother to her 11 grandchildren, Michael Jr., Derick, Dayna, Hayley, Claudia, Big Nick, Nicholas, Victoria, Dillion, Addyson, and Brielle; and loving great grandma to two great grandchildren, Benjamin and Callie. She also is survived by her three brothers, William Lawrence and his wife, Beverly, Jimmy Lawrence and his wife, Gloria, and David Lawrence, many nieces and nephews, and too many friends to mention.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen, and father, Homer Lawrence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 26 at the Calvary Bible Baptist Church, 594 Beverly Rancocas Rd., Willingboro, NJ 08046. Services start at 11 a.m. and the family invites everyone to a celebration and lunch immediately after service at the Church Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to the American Diabetes Association.
